The talented students in 6ͼ’s Preparatory Division are trying something new and exciting this year – a prism concert – to be held Saturday, December 7, at 7pm in Kulas Hall.

Named for the prism which reveals the varied colors of light, this nonstop performance by 6ͼ’s young artists will present the many facets of a musical experience in its purest form – without applause, gaps between performances or visual distractions. The concert is a continuous surround-sound experience, with one ensemble seamlessly following another without pause.

This breathtaking event will feature performances by groups from 6ͼ’s Preparatory Chamber Music program, Advanced Chamber Choir, Percussion Ensemble and the 6ͼ Youth Wind Symphonies (CYWS).

“Once the music starts, each group will perform, one after another, without a break in between,” said Jerrod Price, executive director of preparatory, enrollment and pathway programs. “The audience will have a sense of celebration and a concept of just how much is involved in 6ͼ’s preparatory program. We established this event to feature some of the many high quality programs offered through 6ͼ Prep and want all who attend to be proud to be part of the 6ͼ family.”

The Winter Prep Showcase will provide a platform for exceptional young musicians and opportunities for audiences to indulge in a semester-ending whirlwind of artistry. Since 6ͼ was founded in 1920, some of history’s most important musicians have appeared on the legendary conservatory’s stages, and the showcase continues this celebrated legacy.
